The Harper's Ring ReviewJust received this short story and started to read the first few pages to see what it was about. As usual with Holly Patrone's writing, the story pulled me in and I read it all as soon as I downloaded it. This author has a great knack of bringing you into the book as if you are there with the characters. You don'f truly appreciate your freedom until you read about people that are stripped of theirs. Thanks for another great read Holly.The Harper's Ring OverviewCuba was her home. The smells of the streets were heady, spicy. They came in little whiffs around corners and rammed headlong into Mari as she traveled the cobblestone streets of the trade district. Havana was like that, a surprise on the wind, an undulating energy that begged to be free.Being of the privileged class when Castro came into power was dangerous. Her homeland stolen, Mari makes forced choices, and the repercussions of these decisions echo some forty years later. In this short story, the author of ‘Death Is A Relative Thing' conveys this amazing tale of strength and endurance as the circle is made complete.
