Taste of Home Cookbook, All NEW 3rd Edition with Contest Winners BonusBo: Best Loved Classics, All New Favorites ReviewI picked this newly configured cookbook at a local retailer for less than $19. It included a one year subscription card to the magazine as well as the bonus prize winners cookbook (really great little addition and it's almost 100 pages). This cookbook features OVER 1500 recipes and it has a lot of color photos. This is a good basic cookbook, and would make a great gift. Its big, concise, detailed index and has some quick find icons to help you navigate the recipes. There is a large main index as well as individual chapter indexes showing you all the recipes in that section at a glance which is really nice. It has 2 splash guards, which are heavy duty plastic covers that quickly pop in and out (not a closed hole cutout) to cover the pages you are working on at the time. This is a nice feature I have not see before. I have had several other large ring bound books like this and I love the way this one is divided. You have beef & veal, lamb, poultry, pork & seafood sections, so if you bought a cut of meat for supper you can quickly find a recipe to work with. I would say 65% of the cookbook are main dish recipes, which I like. The desserts are also divided into pies & tarts, candies, cakes, cookies & bars, and desserts. These recipes are classic, some with new variations, nothing groundbreaking but a step up from the standard meat, vegetable, mashed potatoes type meal. Everything is pretty simple, and there are no ingredients you've never heard of or can only get at a gourmet foods shop. Overall for the price considering everything this has to offer I think its an great cookbook and a great value.Taste of Home Cookbook, All NEW 3rd Edition with Contest Winners BonusBo: Best Loved Classics, All New Favorites Overview
